Some example conversations to gain an understanding of how people talk.
We would suggest you practice the Words and Phrases first and then perhaps listen and learn these afterwards.
There are no translations included here...try to follow the English words as best you can.
A good way to ;earn more quickly is to have these short, simple conversations with others you know who also want to practice their English
IRELAND
A: Hello
B: Hi
A: How are you?
B: I am good, thank you
A: What is your name?
B: My name is Amy. What is your name?
A: I’m John. Where are you from?
B: I am from Vietnam
A: Do you like Ireland?
B: Yes, I do. But it is very cold.
A: Are you her for a holiday?
B: No, I came to work at a mushroom farm.
A: Wow, really? Do you like that?
B: Yes, I like it very much. But it is hard work.
A: How long will you be here?
B: My contract is for 2 years.
A: And then you will go back to Vietnam?
B: Yes, I will miss my family.
LET’S GO SHOPPING
A: I need to go shopping today. Would you like to come?
B: Sure. I need some things as well.
A: What do you need to buy?
B: I need some more vegetables, bread and some eggs
A: I see. I need those too, and I also need to get some fruit and more chicken
B: Can we also go to the doctor afterwards? I need to get some medicine.
A: Yes, of course we can go there.
B: How do you think we should go?
A: I think we can get a taxi. What do you think?
B: Yes, that is fine.
MOVIES and COFFEE
A: What do you want to do today?
B: Hmmm, I do not know.
A: How about we go to the movies and then get some coffee?
B: Yes, I think I would enjoy that.
A: What do you feel like watching?
B: I do not mind. You can choose.
But I would like to go to the café near the park for coffee. Is that okay?
A: Yep, sounds good.
